Studying in Hungary Without IELTS English Proficiency Certificate
A major advantage of this funding initiative is the option to secure admission without IELTS test scores. Many host universities accept an official medium of instruction certificate (MOI letter) issued by an applicant’s previous academic institution. If prior degree studies were taught entirely in English, standard external language testing requirements are typically waived by admissions officers.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
| ENGLISH PROFICIENCY WAIVER PATHS |
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Option A ---> Medium of Instruction Certificate (MOI) from Previous School
Option B ---> Institutional Online Interview / Internal English Test
Option C ---> Native English Speaker Status / Prior Degree in English Country
Option D ---> Standardized Tests (Duolingo, TOEFL, Cambridge - Optional)
This flexibility avoids expensive exam fees while maintaining clear academic assessment standards across departments. Candidates without formal testing can prove proficiency during a mandatory university online interview conducted by faculty members. During this short interview, evaluators review the applicant’s spoken skills, academic terminology, and overall readiness for english taught programs.
+-----------------------------------+
| ACCEPTABLE ALTERNATIVE PROOFS |
+-----------------------------------+
| • Institutional MOI Letter |
| • Prior Degree Taught in English |
| • Internal University Assessment |

+-----------------------------------+
| Language Assessment Path | Requirements / Details | Exemption Eligibility |
| Medium of Instruction (MOI) | Official institutional letter verifying English instruction | Students with English-medium backgrounds |
| Institutional Assessment | Internal oral/written test during interview | Applicants without external tests |
| Native Proficiency | Country passport where English is the primary language | Native English citizens |
| Alternative Certificates | Duolingo English test, Cambridge, or TOEFL waiver | Score meets equivalent cefr b2 level |
Alternatively, universities accept alternative certifications such as the Duolingo English test or Cambridge assessments if submitted prior to evaluation deadlines. Demonstrating clear oral communication skills during the interview easily fulfills institutional requirements. This practical approach ensures capable scholars are not restricted by standardized test barriers.
